You have to be sure that there is no standing water on the equipment pad if that is where you plan on testing the motor. You do not want to be standing in water, even if it is just a small amount, while you test and hook up the electrical to the motor.
You can test the pump motor be safely and temporarily hooking the electrical power source to the motor. You have to be sure that you also connect the ground wire in conjunction with the other wires. Follow the diagram on the motor nomenclature (ID) plate. With the power now on after the above installation, then you may briefly switch on the power to the motor. Run the power/motor only long enough to determine that it will run ~ one (1) to two (2) minutes. Running the motor any longer will damage the pump seal and possibly other components. k

An inground pool plumbing diagram typically includes the layout of pipes, valves, filters, pumps, and other equipment used to circulate water in the pool. It shows how water flows through the system to keep the pool clean and properly maintained.
If the pool is built in such a way that the pool is held down even though there is ground water underneath it without it being able to start floating there should be nothing to worry about.
Why would you drain your pool just becasue the water is hot? Never drain your inground pool unless you have first cut holes in the bottom of the pool to keep it from floating. If the water table in your area is high enough, your inground pool could "float" out of the ground, effectively ruining your pool.
Put water proof tape around it and put the inlets around the pool.
it depends on what the pool is made of if it is concrete then all of if its carbon fiber then about half of it.

To find a leak in an inground pool, you can conduct a simple bucket test. Fill a bucket with pool water and place it on the pool steps. Mark the water level inside the bucket and the pool water level. After 24 hours, compare the two levels. If the pool water level has dropped more than the bucket water level, there may be a leak in the pool. You can also inspect the pool equipment, check for wet spots around the pool, and hire a professional leak detection service for further assistance.
