The time it takes for flood water to recede can vary widely depending on factors such as the volume of water, terrain, drainage systems, and weather conditions. In some cases, floodwaters may begin to recede within hours, while in others, it can take days or even weeks for the water to fully subside. Additionally, urban areas with efficient drainage may see quicker receding times compared to rural or heavily saturated regions.

The time can vary. It could take hours with the water slowly rising every hour or it could take seconds with a wall of water overtaking everything in its path.

The only thing I can think of is, if you have a shower curtain, you are letting the curtain hang over the outside of the tub. Water hits the curtain and drips down onto the floor, causing your bathroom to flood. If this is what is happening, just put the curtain on the inside of the tub. :)
