When mixing render for a pond, it's generally recommended to add waterproofing agent at a ratio of about 1 part waterproofing to 5 parts cement. This can vary based on the specific product used, so always refer to the manufacturer's instructions. Additionally, ensure that the mix is well-combined and that the application is done in layers for maximum effectiveness. Proper curing is also essential to enhance water resistance.

Tadpoles often don't do well in water that is not from the pond where they hatched. It is best to mix dechlorinated tapwater with pond water.

Yes you can. However, you MUST use a proprietory waterproofer in the mix. This is best used when concrete is purchased from an industrial supplier (ready mix) as the mix is created and maintained in a slurry format until delivery. The walls are shuttered and filled. Drying takes place and then the floor is poured in as a second fix option.
A lean mix of concrete is a weak mix (ie. Gen 1 or C10 for example). As for how waterproof a lean mix is compaired to a shotcrete mix, it would depent on what mix of shotcrete is used. Generaly speaking, whatever mix of concrete is used if it dose not have a waterproofing agent in it (ie. Sika 1+ Waterproofer for example) it wont be that waterproof. But if you want a staight answer, I would say shotcrete would be more waterproof, only because it tends to be a stronger mix. Regards Colin, a concrete batcher for Tarmac.
You cannot mix grey with a single colour to form yellow. Yellow is made by mixing green and red. The addition of grey would render a dark shade of yellow.

When rendering, it is common to use sharp sand or coarse sand as they provide good bonding properties and strength to the mix. The sand should be free from clay or silt to ensure proper adhesion and durability of the render. Always follow the manufacturer's recommendations for the specific type of render being used.
