Bioguard Optimizer looks like it is regularly used in swimming pools as a remedy for algae. The only site I found listing potassium tetraborate does not show that it is used for swimming pools, and also that it is toxic. See Related Links See the Related Links for "Potassium Tetraborate information" to the bottom for the answer. A: The product from Bioguard "optimizer" is not a product available in California so it must be very hazardous to the environment etc. I would not want to use a product in my pool that was that hazardous to people or animals. Use with great caution!!!. Or find an alternative like yellow treat or yellow out. Both good algae killers. Follow the manufacturer's label instructions.
There are many quality pest control and extermination companies in business. Some examples would be Terminix, Orkin, Truly Nolen, BioGuard, and Presto-X.
BioGuard makes a product called "Banish" that kills all types of algae in swimming pools. Pressure washing with bleach water will get rid of algae on surfaces. Removing dead leaves from ponds will prevent growth as it causes organic debris on which detrimental algae thrives. Filtering the pond will also help greatly.
Yes, e-clear on Oxygen is 100% chlorine free. It does not use any chlorine or salt or any other chlorides (such as Potassium chloride or magnesium chloride) to generate chlorine, but instead relies on an advanced oxidation process which is combined with copper ionization to sanitize the water.
Salt water pools are in fact chlorine pools part of the salt is turned into chlorine by the salt water chlorinater If it works in a normally chlorinated pool it should also work in a salt water pool. However you should check if there is any metallic ingredient like copper in it as these are not recommended in salt water pools.
This must be an algaecide of some sort possible a low grade of chlorine. Did you follow the instructions EXACTLY? Is this product supposed to settle on algae spots? If not , did you brush it to keep it from clumping and settling on the bottom of the pool? The black stains, possible caused by the product burning the plaster where it settled --- improper use of product. Impossible to know without seeing the stains and finding out just how you used the product. Contact Bioguard for further info.
100% sodium tetraborate which is exactly what is in 20 Mule Team Borax in the laundry detergent section of walmart, kmart and your grocery store for about $0.63 per pound! yeahThat is true. But keep in mind that Borax is not labled for use in a swimming pool. I know it is a technicality, but if someone gets sick and they sue ... well, better to stick to the labeled directions.ANSWERTechnically, the current label lists it as 99.5% Sodium Biborate Pentahydrate. The chemicals are similar to be sure, however they are not entirely interchangeable. Best to stick with the labeled use.
It is often called "pink algae", but is actually a bacteria that is hard to get rid of. See your pool supplier. It's appearance often coincides with many overcast or rainy days. It especially loves the white plastic plumbing pools have. I have found the red algae to be pH related. In particular it is encouraged by an acid condition. So, balalnce the pH, then shock the pool. You might check real good. If you use a solar blanket when the little bubbles on it start to decay it will leave what looks like silver bugs in your pool! Try a product called No More Bugs (Lo-Chlor)
Yes, there are usually pool products offered by companys that remove rust from the water. However if it's rusty the products don't work as well. Metal in your water is more easily removed before chlorine is added. Once Chl is added it rusts the metals and they loose their ability to be easily attracted out. Bioguard has a product called Pool Magnet. Can be used anytime, but is best before chlorine is added. Rusty water, clean your filter or back wash every couple hours and use "Sparkle Up" in the filtering system. Your filter will get it out. If you get stains there are stain removers too.
