Simple. The filter is very old. You can count on at least 5 to 7 of the 8 grids to be bad ( having holes or totally torn) in a filter that old. Depending on brand that could be quite expensive. But still cheaper than a new filter.

Its not always torn or bad grids, inside your multi port valve there is a gasket called a spider gasket, (bout 20-30 bucks) it seals off the different compartments and when it gets worn, the backwash compartment or others can LEAK over into the filter position compartment, there fore letting some dirty and clean DE go back out into the pool, Very easy to replace, and VERY inexpensive fix compared to new grids and manifold. good luck.

To effectively detect an inground pool leak, you can use specialized techniques such as a pressure test, dye testing, or electronic leak detection. These methods can help accurately pinpoint the location of the leak in your pool.
To find a leak in an inground pool, you can conduct a dye test by adding dye near suspected areas and observing for any movement towards the leak. You can also inspect the pool equipment, check for wet spots around the pool, and use a pressure test to identify the leak location.
Definitely has a leak! Best to put the snorkel on and try to locate the leak by looking for tears in the liner.
To find a leak in inground pool piping, you can conduct a dye test by adding dye to the water near the suspected leak and observing if the dye is drawn into the crack or hole. Another method is to pressurize the pipes with air and listen for hissing sounds, which can indicate the location of the leak. Additionally, you can hire a professional leak detection service to use specialized equipment to pinpoint the leak accurately.
I can't answer this yet, but I am having the same problem!

Do you have air bubbles coming back to the pool thru the return lines? If so, you have a suction leak. Could be between the skimmer, maindrain, at the pool pump. Most likely place to start is the pump. Check the lid o-ring for proper seat and fit. Check the pump seal. Check any fitting that goes into the pump pot - in and out plumbing plus small plugs at the base of the pump. K
A baby's diaper may leak out the back if it is not fastened securely enough or if the diaper is too small for the baby's size. It could also be due to the baby's position or movement causing the diaper to shift and not provide enough coverage.

The pool return line is the one that returns the water form the filter to the pool. Usually you'll see holes in the side walls of the pool with little eyeball sockets where the water flows back to the pool.
