Why is saving water so important?

Also, when water is pumped into your house, it is first taken from a source, or a body of water. then, the water goes to a house that pumps alum, and chlorine into the water to make it OK to drink. then, it goes through a stone wall, and filters the water. then, it is pumped to water towers and when you turn on your faucet, the water drops off into your very own sink. but one thing that is not good is that the ingredients pushed into the water are made with lot of oil, and we have an oil shortage from the oil spill in the gulf. and, you can't remake water. once you use it, you can't recycle it like garbage!
