Springfield Arms shotguns were manufactured by the Stevens division of Savage Arms from 1920 to 1948.
Massachusetts Arms Company: Trade name used by J. Stevens Arms and Tool Company on firearms for Blish, Mizet and Silliman Hardware Company of Atchinson, KS. The name is also attributed to Crescent Firearms, but a single shot with a Chicopee Falls address is almost certainly a Stevens.
I have a 12ga Chicopee Arms shotgun that I inherited from my father. "Chicopee Arms" is a brand name used by the H.D. Folsom Company for selling hunting shotguns in the 1940s. Hope this helps!
This 'Springfield' was a house brand of Stevens, and should not be confused with Springfield Armory which produced firearms for the US Military, nor the current private company 'Springfield Armory USA' which produces the M1A rifle. Your gun is one of the many variants produced under the Stevens name beween 1915 and 1940. Value of the 20ga is somewhat higher than the more common 12ga, and if in excellent original condition can approach $400-$500. sales@countrygunsmith.net
The J. Stevens Arms Company was a prominent firearms manufacturer in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Springfield double barrel shotgun with a hammer was likely produced by J. Stevens Arms Company in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts. The 16 gauge shotgun was a popular choice for hunting and sport shooting during that time period. The specific history of this particular shotgun would require further research into the serial number and production records of J. Stevens Arms Company.
Whats it worth
The Springfield Model 67F is manufactured by the Springfield Armory, which was originally established in 1777 as a military armory in Springfield, Massachusetts. However, the Model 67F is a product of the Savage Arms Company, which produced it as a budget-friendly pump-action shotgun primarily during the 1960s and 1970s. The shotgun is known for its reliability and simplicity, making it popular among hunters and sport shooters.
