The Stevens model 107 shotgun was made from 1912-1945.stevens made 443,500 shotguns during this time frame.
The Model 107 was a single-shot shotgun, not a .22 Magnum rifle. Please send us all the markings directly copied from the rifle so we can properly identify it. We have magazines for virtually all Savage/Stevens products manufactured since 1900. sales@countrygunsmith.net
My research indicates that the Savage/Stevens model 107 was made from 1912-1945,with a total production of 443,500 made.
The model 107 was manufactured from 1912 until 1945, but Stevens was not associated with Savage until 1920, and even though a part of the Savage Arms Company, the guns were marked as "J. Stevens Arms Co" until the mid 1940's, so most likely yours was one of the last model 107's made in 1945. Stevens products were always well-made and serviceable, but nothing that collectors get excited about, so it will be priced as a used single shot. Since new ones sell for $89.95, secondhand it would be worth $45-60 depending on condition.
I just purchased a used model 107 Stevens & Co. Chicopee Falls, Mass .single shot .410 shotgun in original very good condition for $53.00 He was asking $69.00. I dissasembled it for a thorough cleaning and found I need to replace the firing pin SPRING (@3.00 Bob's Guns supply); Most should be worth @ $35.00 - 75.00 depending on collector interest. I have seen them sell on occasion for as much as $100.00 though. They were made of very good steel and wood, although cracks do appear due to advanced age (usually 70 - 100 + years old.
There is a person who has some factory data from Stevens from which he can determine the year of manufacture for SOME Stevens products that were serialized. I think he charges $20 for a letter now. But I don't think the 107 would have a serial number (apparently you couldn't find one), so he wouldn't be able to help you. The 107 was made from 1912 to 1945. The version of the company name indicates that your grandfather's was not made until at least 1920. Although it is a priceless heirloom to you, its value on the open market is only $50-$75.
Stevens 107b is a fixed cylinder bore. So in other words, no choke and not able to be choked.
Just ran across this tonight while researching a 107B 12 ga that I just bought. Hope it helps. http://www.e-gunparts.com/productschem.asp?chrMasterModel=089Zz107B
