It is possible, and there are a couple ways to go about it. The main one is to find a transferrable one which is for sale. For a fully imported rifle, it would have to have been imported and licenced prior to the passage of the Gun Control Act of 1968. For an imported rifle which was refitted with enough US made parts that it was no longer considered an imported firearm and converted to full auto, it would have to have been converted and licenced prior to the passage of the Firearms Owners Protection Act of 1986. Once you find one, you need to find a licenced Class III dealer, through which you will file your paperwork and pay your $200 for the transfer tax, and send it to the BATFE. Once it's approved, you'll have that dealer receive it for you, and you'll be able to take possession of it from them.
No. The AK47/AKM use the 7.62x39 M1943 cartridge. The ammo used by the AK74 is 5.45x39.5.
That depends on what country of origin among other things. You can bet that they area lot higher than they were just a few years back.>Depending on the exact model, maker, and country of origin, the semi auto VERSION of the Ak47 is currently selling for $500-900 in the US. The original AK47 is capable of full auto fire, and value of a LEGAL, transferable AK is MUCH higher- several thousand dollars. Only those that were registered with the BATFE by May 1986 are transferable to a private citizen in the US. No additional full auto weapons can be registered. To buy one at a gun shop new will be around $400-$500.
A transferable AK47 would be in the 10-25K range.
Yes
they quit selling them in the US, but they have them in England
Yes, & it still is as long as your local laws allow it.
Depends on the laws where YOU are. In MOST of the US, the semiauto version of the AK47 is perfectly legal. The full auto version is also legal IF it has been registered with the Federal BATFE, and the the transfer tax paid on it.
