The basic answer is no, but there are two parts to the answer.
First, only a few states require gun registration on regular handguns and long guns. There is no national registration.
Second, in the few states that do require registration, the information is not generally availble to the public.
If you mean where is a website that you can check to see if a gun is registered, there's not one.

A registered agent is a state-specific thing. A company may have a different registered agent in each state. Check with your Secretary of State to see who the registered agent is for your particular state.
In many States as long as the gun is registered an individual can carry it in their truck or keep it handy in their home. If you are having problems with your ex boyfriend and feel he is going to harm you then go to the police as soon as possible and tell them what you know. The police can check out the gun to see if it is registered and to whom. Once reported to police it stays on the books and your ex and his son will think twice about doing any harm towards you.
There is no one process, since the law varies from state to state. There is no FEDERAL law that requires registration of ordinary rifles, shotguns or handguns in the US. MOST states also do not require registration. When a firearm is purchased from a dealer, the dealer makes a record of the sale, which is retained at the dealership for 20 years- but it is not registered with any one. Check with a local gun shop to see if the law where YOU live requires registration.
Guns are not registered in the state of Virginia. See http://www.vsp.state.va.us/Firearms.shtm for more information.

You can check to see if a real estate agent is properly registered, or licensed in each state. Each state has a government website, and it will quickly let you know if your agent is registered, and also if any disciplinary actions have been taken against them.
