J. Browning invented & perfected the pistol known as the 1911 (adopted by the US Military in 1911, given the name M-1911. Shortly afterwards, a few modifications/improvements were made and designated the M-1911A1).
Browning sold the rights to Colt to produce the weapon for the US military.
The Colt M1911, a semiautomatic pistol invented by John Browning, was first made in 1910, and subsequently adopted into service with the United States Army in 1911.
Good pistol
Call Colt
If your Colt is the 1911 military pistol, it was made in 1915.
John M. Browning.
1911, and remodled in 1927
If you mean the standard Caliber of a 1911 model colt pistol, then this was chambered in the caliber .45ACP.
'ACP' means Automatic Colt Pistol. A 1911, for example, would chamber a .45 ACP cartridge.
Oddly enough, it dates to 1911, though that is the final patent date - Browning started work on it before that, as he had the basic weapon finished for the Army pistol trials in 1910. The 1911 was the "perfected" version.
1981
No
John Moses Browning was the creator- but he was working for Colt. BTW, the ACP means Automatic Colt Pistol.
