Pretty sure the 550 series went out of production around 1971. Very nice accurate little hunting rifles. You can still find them on the used market- I have 4 of them. Try the on-line auctions at auctionarms.com, gunbroker.com. and gunsamerica.com. You WILL need to have the rifle shipped to a dealer in your home state, and complete same process with him as if you were buying from him. Note that repair parts are getting scarce.

Remington did not make a carbine in .44 Magnum caliber. They did chamber the Model 788 rifle in that caliber. Do you have a Ruger carbine in .44 Remington Magnum, or perhaps a Marlin in that caliber? sales@countrygunsmith.net
