Assuming you are in the US- be old enough to buy a rifle (18), and not be disqualified from owning a gun (convicted felon, convicted of domestic violence, unlawful drug user, illegal alien, judged mentally incompetent, etc., and have the money to pay for it. In some states you may not buy one due to state law, in others you will need a license- varies from state to state. HOWEVER- that is for a semi-auto version of an AK-47. To buy an original AK, capable of full auto fire, transfer of that must take place through a Dealer that has a Class III SOT, must be approved by your Chief Law Enforcement Officer, approved by the BATFE, and you will need to be fingerprinted. You will also need a MUCH bigger checkbook. No additional full auto firearms can be transferred to private citizens since May 1986- only those already registered. The price of a LEGAL, transferable AK47 is several thousand dollars.
