You start by following this link to get a copy of the owner's manual for your pistol. Then print it and read it. http://www.springfield-armory.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/XDmManual.pdf You will need a basic cleaning kit, including a bore road, correct sized bore brush, a patch holder, cleaning patches, powder solvent and light lubricating oil. A toothbrush is also handy for reaching tight spaces. Please note- almost ALL manufacturers have owners manuals available at no charge through their websites. If you have a modern firearm and no manual, get one.
It is a target pistol made by Springfield Armory.
No They have a Subcompact in the XD series but not the XDm. The XDm has a compact 3.8 inch barrel.
many of them are made in different places. 1911 models are made in Brazil. XDM pistols are made in croatia. I'm not sure about the rest.
All Springfield XDM pistols come with accesory bundle. Depending on night sight upgrades new in box prices vary from $550 plain sights. Night sights and add ons up to $700
No, Springfield XD and XDM magazines are not interchangeable. While both series are designed by Springfield Armory and share some similarities, their designs differ in dimensions and features. As a result, using an XD magazine in an XDM or vice versa can lead to feeding issues or may not fit properly. Always use the magazine specifically designed for your firearm model to ensure reliable performance.
No. Some 1911 models are made in Brazil and Springfield XD and XDM models are made in Croatia.
The Croatian HS2000 pistol is marketed in the United States with a modified lower receiver as the Springfield XD - Extreme Duty. The "M" denotes the "modernised" or modified variant, with new grip ergonomics, higher magazine capacities (in 9mm and .40) and other features.
Yes per conversation with Springfield Inc. it is safe to use +p or +p+ FACTORY ammunition, but it can accelerate wear on the weapon at a higher rate.
Springfield 1911 models are forged and milled in Brazil. Custom shop models are assembled in usa. The XDM 9mm is made in croatia. I don't believe any of the others are made here either!
XDM - display manager - was created in 1988-10.
No. They are the wrong diameter, 45 you need large pistol/large rifle sized primer diameter. Also rifle primers are thicker and require a heavier primer strike that some pistols can not deliver. My Springfield XDM only intermittently can set off a small rifle primer when used to load 9mm.
"XD" stands for Xtreme Duty. The "M" according to Springfield's advertising, stands for several different things. Mega Capacity Magazine, Main Focus Sights, Mega Loc Grip, Minimal Error Disassembly Lever, ETC
