You do not need to remove the picatinny rail on top to dissasemble for thorough cleaning. The tiny screws will eventually strip out of the aluminum receiver if you remove the rail too often. The firearm will swing apart with a little pressure,

The Ruger SR-22 has an MSRP of $629, but they can be found closer to the $500 range. IMO, still way too much for what it is - better just to get a 10/22 for $220 at Dick's Sporting Goods, then dress it up to look tacticool if you see fit to do so.
