The firearm must be unloaded and uncocked (fired).
Remove the magazine.
Use a small, blunt object to push the take down button, located at the rear of the slide, into the slide until it stops (about 1/8 inch); keep it pushed in and lift the slide up until it stops.
Release the take down button carefully as the spring is under pressure.
Hold the rear of the slide up gently and push the slide forward off the firearm.
This is as far as you need to go for cleaning one of these "fine" firearms.
