To disassemble a Westernfield 12 gauge Model M550A with a select choke, first ensure the firearm is unloaded and safe. Remove the forearm by unscrewing the retaining screw and sliding it off the magazine tube. Next, remove the barrel by unscrewing the magazine cap and pulling the barrel away from the receiver. Finally, to access internal components, you may need to remove the trigger assembly by unscrewing the screws on the receiver. Always refer to a specific manual for detailed instructions to ensure safety and proper handling.
best left to a gunsmith
I would not say it is recommended but I think it is okay if the barrel is Cylinder Choke. If there is a choke to the barrel, I'd advise against it.
I have a wards-westernfield 20 g pump, full choke, These guns were manufactured by Stevens-Savage for MW. Mine was handed down to me by my father and was purchased in 1945. So it's at least that old, 64 years. Hope this helps.
You will need the services of a good gunsmith to get a correct answer. The wards Westernfield was made by Savage and can be in both 12 & 16 gauge. lcj

Would not recommend using a full choke or even a 20 gauge, 12s are much better
