To remove a bung from a wooden barrel, first ensure the barrel is stable and secure. Use a bung remover or a flat tool like a pry bar to gently leverage the bung out, applying even pressure to avoid damaging the barrel. If the bung is stubborn, you can tap around it lightly with a mallet to loosen it before attempting to pull it out. Always be cautious to prevent splintering the wood or damaging the barrel.
A wooden barrel consists of several key parts: the staves, which are the individual wooden slats that form the barrel's body; the heads, which are the circular ends that seal the barrel; and the hoops, which are metal or wooden bands that hold the staves together. The barrel also has a bung hole for filling and emptying its contents, typically sealed with a bung. Together, these components create a sturdy container used for aging and storing liquids like wine and whiskey.
A bung with a straw in it is commonly referred to as a bung with a spigot or a bung with a tap. It is used for drawing out liquid from a container, such as a cask or barrel.

To remove barrel, first disassemble gun. Remove magazine by inserting a 1/4" dia punch in the hole in the magazine and unscrew. Now the hard part. Unscrew the action from the barrel. You will need a special barrel vice and a special action wrench to do this - if you don't want to bugger up the barrel and action. The barrel vice needs to accomodate the rib (if installed). It needs to use custom made wooden jaws (for each different barrel). Use rosin on wooden jaws to increase friction. These tools are usually only economical to make if you are in the gun repair business.
