The J C Higgins Model 20 holds 6 rounds with out a magazine plug
If it has a tube magazine under the barrel, the end of it probably unscrews and a spring and a plug will come out. Put it back together with out the plug and you have a 5-shot magazine. Just don't get caught hunting migratory waterfowl without the plug in place.
Remove the magazine tube cap. The plug is inserted inside the spring, and cap replaced. You may want to have a gunsmith do this. It will take less time for him to do it than it will for you to find the springs that got loose.
Remove the gas system. Drift out the black cross pin out of the magazine tube. The pin is directly below the gas system through a polymer plug. The polymer plug should come out of the top of the magazine tube when you remove that pin, so be VERY careful when removing the pin. Now remove the magazine spring. On the follower end of the spring should be the plug you are wanting to remove. Remove it from the spring. And put the spring and polymer plug back in. The dished end of the polymer plug goes toward the end of the magazine tube.
It breaks like a Model 12 and on top of the mag trube there are screws. Remove them and the cap comes flying off along with spring and plug. Do not loos the parts, hard to find. Replace the same way.
No, there is only room for 2 shells, ever. You cannot increase it's capacity.
Make sure it is unloaded and it needs to be on safety. Then all you do is remove the magazine cap, release the retainer, let the spring pop out and then you can remove the plug.
To remove the plug from a Winchester Ranger shotgun, first ensure the shotgun is unloaded and pointed in a safe direction. Then, locate the plug inside the magazine tube, usually accessible by unscrewing the end cap or the magazine cap. Once the cap is removed, you can slide the plug out from the magazine tube. Reassemble the shotgun by securely replacing the cap.
If you are referring to the magazine tube plug. The answer would be No. It is put there for bird hunting regulations only.
Get a spark plug socket and wrench that fits the plug body and remove it by turning counter-clockwise.
yes
The "plug" is just a stick slipped inside the magazine to limit the amount of space, but there's a big long spring in magazine too, so be VERY careful when you take the cap off the muzzle end of the magazine tube or stuff's going to go flying. (and save the stick, you may want to put it back some day)
