I have a Glenfield Model 10 .22 bolt rifle, made sometime between 1966 and 1978. It does have the chipmonk (or squirrel ?) engraving on the grip portion of the stock. All other models 10s that I've heard of have it also.
The Glenfield Model 60 with serial number 72178678 was manufactured in 1972. The presence of a squirrel emblem on the stock indicates that it was part of a special edition or variant produced during that time. Glenfield Model 60 rifles are known for their reliability and popularity among firearm enthusiasts.
About 75
The Glenfield Model 60, featuring the iconic squirrel emblem on the stock, was produced by Marlin Firearms until the early 1980s. The exact year it was discontinued is often cited as 1983, when Marlin transitioned to a more streamlined branding approach. After that, the Model 60 continued to be made but without the distinctive squirrel logo.
Around $75.
A Marlin Glenfield Model 60 .22 caliber semi auto rifle with a squirrel engraved in the stock and a serial number 20160178 is worth between $100 and $300. The actual value varies greatly based on its overall condition.
it just depends on the year it was made in if it had the squirrel i think. either that or they quit putting the squirrel on when they stopped the glenfield name and made em all marlin. But to answer your price question. I just picked up the same gun yesterday without the squirrel (which shouldn't make it anymore valuable at all) for $40 in a local gun shop. And he had 4 or 5 more similar to that gun in age and model for 35-70 depending on condition.
Not all Glenfield Model 60 rifles were produced with serial numbers. While many of the later models included serial numbers for tracking and identification purposes, earlier models and certain production runs may not have had them. The absence of a serial number can be attributed to manufacturing practices and regulations at the time of production. Always check specific models and production years for accurate information.
Glenfield rifles were primarily sold by the Glenfield brand, which was a line of firearms produced by Marlin Firearms Company. Marlin, established in 1870, is known for manufacturing various types of rifles and shotguns, and the Glenfield line included popular models like the Glenfield Model 60. These rifles were often sold through sporting goods stores, gun shops, and various retailers across the United States.
