The rifle that you are describing is a Marlin model 1894,not a model 1893.The model 1894 was the only model of Marlin produced as a baby carbine in the caliber 44-40Win.IT was produced with a 18in barrel and a half magazine. These were made from 1894-1934.The value of these baby carbines range from 490-1,400 dollars for a rifle showing between 10%-60% of its original finish, and a good bore.
The Limited had a 24" bbl., straight stock, no checkering, and a smaller forearm . Two versions - 1/2 round, 1/2 octagon, and full octagon.
yes in most cases it can be interchanged with little or no modification
The Marlin Model 1894 was manufactured from 1894 to 1934. 44-40 WCF was the largest caliber available. A 44 S&W magnum is only slightly larger, so it MIGHT chamber, but even if it will, DON'T use it. The modern Marlin 1894 Octagon was manufactured in 1973, and was produced for that year only. It is chambered for the modern .44 S&W magnum cartridge, and was a precurser to the "Cowboy" series. The information contained in the paragraph above relates to the original 1894 rifle series which was, as noted, discontnued in 1934.
$1000 to $1200 and going up. No longer made and Remington has bought Marlin
Yes there is.I personally have a marlin model 1894 cowboy ltd.that is chambered for the .45 colt cartridge.A few that come to mind is the rossi lever action carbine, the marlin model 1894,some Winchester model 1894 carbines, original Winchester model 1892 lever action carbines etc. With the revival of the cowboy action matches at gun ranges across the country gun makers are making more and more firearms that fire the .45 colt cartridge.
