In my short barrels I use 15 grains of 3F black powder. You can fiddle a bit with the amount +/- to do what you need, but I found it to be a good load for up to a 4" barrel.
It depends on the type of powder, the age and caliber of the cannon, the condition of the cannon, the projectile, etc.
That will depend on the local laws, such as the fire codes, and the type of powder. Black powder is an explosive, and is typically more restricted than smokeless powder. Check with the Fire Marshall where you live.
A short barrelled, single shot, percussion cap ignited, black powder and lead ball pistol of around .58 cal. This type of firearm was commonly called a "derringer" after John Deringer of Phila. who was famous for producing high quality firearms of this type.
The typical load for a .44 black powder pistol varies depending on the specific firearm and intended use, but it generally ranges from 20 to 30 grains of black powder. Some shooters may use more or less powder based on their preferences or the specific powder type. It's important to follow the manufacturer's recommendations and guidelines for safe loading practices. Always ensure proper measurement and safety when handling black powder.
Most recommend is 3F powder, either true black powder or the "synthetic" or black powder substitute equivalent and between 25 and 30 grains should due nicely.
that would be a percussion black powder rifle from the civil war. value would depend on overall condition
Pyrex powder cannot be substituted for black powder. Pyrex is a brand of glassware made from a specific type of borosilicate glass, which is not suitable for use as a propellant or explosive. Black powder, on the other hand, is a specific mixture of potassium nitrate, charcoal, and sulfur, designed for combustion. Using Pyrex powder in place of black powder would not provide the necessary chemical properties for any intended application, such as in firearms or fireworks.
Black copper oxide powder is a base because it can react with acids to form salts and water.
Depends on WHEN you were buying it, and what type of derringer. The Deringer pistol was first made in 1852. Derringers have been relatively inexpensive, and most sell today for $100-$150, but may have sold for $2-$5 in 1900.
That all depends on the caliber, type of cartridge, type of powder, and how much velocity you want.
Black powder <><><> At the time of the American revolution, the only gunpowder in existence was black powder- a mix of charcoal, sulfur, and saltpetre. Other gun powders (smokeless, cordite, etc) were invented in the late 1800s.
The first type of gunpowder was black powder which created smoke. Some firearms and other non-firearm related items use black powder for other uses (historical recreation). Most firearms nowadays that have cartridged bullets use a smokeless powder.
