Sometime between ABOUT 1955 and 1980. Wish we could be more specific, but your High Standard Sentinel revolver (made for Sears) has not been catalogued, and that is not the serial number- that is the model number used by Sears.
The 583.880 is not the serial #, that is the Sears part number. The serial number will be on the other side of the frame.
Mine is on the right side frame above the right side of the trigger guard.

The J.C. Higgins Model 85 .22 pistol was manufactured by High Standard and sold under the J.C. Higgins brand, which was associated with the Sears, Roebuck and Co. retail chain in the mid-20th century. Introduced in the 1950s, this semi-automatic pistol features a lightweight design and is known for its accuracy and reliability. The serial number 5332808 indicates that it was produced during this period, contributing to its popularity among recreational shooters and collectors alike. As a vintage firearm, it reflects the era's emphasis on affordable quality firearms for the general public.
