BRANDY - Your shotgun was probably manufactured between 1886 and 1916.
The SxS has been around a long time. With the info given your gun may have been built in 1750 or it may be a new import from 2008. They have never stopped makeing this type of gun.
80 years plus or minus...
What do you want to know? How much is a W. Moore Double Barrell with Hammers worth.Really OLD?
Can anyone advise me. I currently restoring a black powder 12 bore shotgun one of the the hammers is missing. The gun is circa 1860 Naylor & son Sheffield. Any advice would be welcome. many thanks. Dan.
manufacturing turned toward internal hammers about 1870 just about the same time the transition from twist to fluid steel barrels appeared. keep in mind that side hammers still appeared on center fire shotguns using brass cased shotgun shells that first appeared about 1860. if it is a percussion cap shotgun its probably pre 1860.
I have a Old W. Moore Double Barrell Shotgun 8 ga. with Hammers. 850-742-0288 Don OR 870-565-5985 Larry
12 gauge double barrel dual hammers on top serial #370943,how old is it,will it be safe to shoot
50-100 USD or so
== == Acme Arms Company was a tradename used by the J. Stevens Arms and Tool Company on pistols and shotguns produced for the Cornwall Hardware Co. of New York. They had a double barrel 12 ga. with external hammers. The shotgun is worth anywhere from $75 to $350 depending on the condition.
The value depends on the condition of the gun. The price can be anywhere from 50 dollars to 150 dollars.
94 years old, +/- 20. If twist steel barrels and side hammers, more likely (but not absolutely) prior to WWI. If fluid steel and a boxlock (back hammers or hammerless) ALMOST certainly after c. 1905.
@ turn of the century, 50-100 USD
@ late 1800's/early 1900's
