Shoot it. Get some decent factory ammo, clean the barrel VERY well, take it out to the range, and shoot it. Once you have a few hundred rounds down it, clean it. Then take it out and shoot it some more.
If you're looking to break in a competition barrel, then you do it slowly. It is best done with handloads, slowly increasing to full power loads.
Just don't neglect to clean the barrel VERY WELL before you put that first round downrange.
It was manufactured about 1974 and worth $250-$280 depending on condition.

Not enough info to answer. What model, blue or stainless, what barrel?
70
400 or so
Hard to say without more info. Since it has a 6" barrel it is probably a Mark II. The 2007 Gun Trader's Guide (sorry, that's the newest one I have) says a blued Mark II in good condition is worth $167, Excellent condition is $239 and new in the box condition is $290. There are some other factors to consider, and guns, like anything else, are worth what someone is willing to give for it today.
It is about 250-350 used depending on condition. Around 550 New.
