Choosing the best weapon for self defense is a matter of personal preference.
The .45 ACP is generally considered a very good defense weapon. There are very few handguns that shoot a larger projectile, but bullet size is a trade off with capacity (how many rounds a pistol can hold).
Typically, a .45 ACP pistol holds 7-8 rounds, compared to a 9mm's 14 rounds or more. If one is expecting to be in a prolonged gun fight, one might prefer having more rounds.
No such weapon. You need to see a gunsmith.
NEVER FIRE AMMUNITION IN A WEAPON NOT MARKED, CHAMBERED AND DESIGNED FOR IT. DANGER, DANGER, DANGER, DANGER. Don't do it.
NO. NEVER try to use ammuntion in a weapon not chambered for it.
NEVER SHOOT AMMUNITION IN A WEAPON NOT CHAMBERED FOR IT!!!!! Do not attempt this.
The majority of 1911 models fire the .45 cal ACP. HOWEVER, there are several 1911 variations available, ones that shoot: .22LR, .32, .380 ACP, 9mm, 10mm, 40 S&W and others. On the weapon (typically on the barrel), the metal is stamped with the correct caliber to be used with that particular weapon.
I believe its .40 S&W or .45 ACP. Pros & Cons to both, trade off in ammunition capacity, recoil severity, etc....Comes down to personal preference. FBI is keen on the 40 S&W. Most 40s will have a larger capacity than 45s. Go to a range that rents guns, and see which you prefer. At this point, its about personal preference more so than effectiveness (they both are good defensive rounds).
There is no such weapon. 25mm converts to .985 inches. I think you mean a Beretta chambered in 25 ACP (6.35mm) Price would depend on what model you are looking at. They can run from 100-400 USD.
Yes. AR-style rifles can be had in .45 ACP, for example. There was also a .45 ACP variation made of the Uzi Model B (good luck finding one, though). And there are others, as well.
