The magazine is simply a long tube with another tube inside it. The inner tube has a full length compression spring with a yellow or orange plug at the end There is a small tit sticking out at the exposed end. This locks the tube iin place. It's called a tubular feed magazine. The 512x is chambered for .22 shour, long, long rifle, bb caps & cb caps. I've shot at least 10,000 rounds through mine and it's as accurate as the day I got it. I did wear out the firing pin though. I now have to push forward on the bolt to get it to fire.
