I plunked down $400 for one, just now. Ultimately, time will tell. The clock is ticking on the 10 day "cooling off" period... However, in researching the HS 1911, I see it has received many good/satisfied initial reports from users. They mention receiving good accuracy and reliability, marred only by coarse surface finish and "heavy" trigger pull. From the factory, the ejection port has been opened up, and the mag well slightly beveled. Grips are indifferently checkered walnut(?), but look fine for a shooter. It feels good in my hand. Sights are the typical old-school teeny weeny microscopic ones, which may need good young eyes to make the best use of. The one magazine it comes issued with has the base plate welded on, and gives the impression of cheapness. This shouldn't bother you, though. Just buy a small handful of quality magazines, and call it good. With the money I saved on this budget shooter, I can now afford a small mountain of .45 ammo, and a good holster. CHEERS Erasmus

your shotgun was made by high standard. high standard went out of business in 1984 due to some poor choices and poorer management. they are most noted for the .22 auto-loading pistols. they made a good solid firearm meant to last a lifetime or two. unfortunately there is no real interest in any other high standards than the pistols. it is a good shotgun that will serve you well in the field or home. thanks good luck

All together they are a good quality 1911 pistol, although I have heard some claims that they are too tightly fitted and may jam after a certain number of rounds are fired or when you get dirt in the action which means that their quality could make them a little fussy but if your not in a combat situation and just using it for self defense or as a target gun then there just as good as any other 1911, although i think you can get the same quality in a cheaper gun and that's why I won't buy one I'd go for a cheaper 1911 (in the 650-900) range such as the colt series 70 $900 and the new Remington 1911 r1 $650 or the Springfield mil spec 700$ any of these are just as good as a kimber and at a cheaper price
