If the rifle was manufactured after the passage of the 1994 Clinton ban, then it can only have one of the features listed in the BATFE's definition of a so-called "civilian assault rifle" (i.e., bayonet lug, flash suppressor, pistol grip, collapsible buttstock, etc.). One of these features is legal in NY state - two or more is not. New York also restricts the capacity of magazines manufactured after 1994 to ten rounds, so the magazine you mention would not be legal.

There have been several variants. Most commonly, 20 round or 30 round magazines, but may use a 40 or 75 round drum.
The StG-44 used a 30-round detachable box clip. The rounds were 7.92mm.
A Savage model 340 3-round 30-30 magazine will work for the 842. Check with Numrich-----845-679-2417
Thompsons were magazine fed there were the 30+1 round stick magazines, and 50+1 and 100+1 round drum magazines.
Its all according to what your talking about. In a side arm (pistol) 380, 9mm, 40 and 45ACP / 45 LC in the larger calibers. In a rifle, 243, 270, 30-30, 30-06, 308 and 7mm... The round that has been produced the most is the 22LR...
