British action. - Incorrect. The Ithaca LSA-55 and LSA-65 are both products of Tikka, which is a Finnish arms manufacturer. The LSA-65 was their long action, 30-06 etc, whereas the LSA-55 was their short action, 308's etc. Excellent rifles, as are all of Tikka's rifles. Very hard to find parts for, but well worth it if you have one. They do not sell for very high prices, so this is an excellent way to get yourself a discount Tikka...as long as you dont need parts.
The Ithaca LSA 55 in .222 Remington typically features a barrel twist rate of 1:12 inches. This means that the rifling in the barrel makes one complete turn every 12 inches of barrel length. This twist rate is well-suited for stabilizing lighter bullets commonly used in .222 caliber, enhancing accuracy and performance.
I believe you are referring to the Ithaca Tikka LSA-55 turkey combo gun. Not to be confused with the Ithaca Tikka LSA-55 bolt action, short action rifle, the combo gun was imported back around the mid 1970s. It was 12 gauge over 222 Remington over and under configuration. It was marketed as a turkey gun. The 12-70 refers to the gauge and length of the cartridge in millimeters. In this case, it means a 12 gauge, 2.75" shell as opposed to a 3" mag shell. Very unusual gun not seen very often. Hope this helps. Mike
The exact value of a 55 Ithaca 22.50 would actually depend on a number of factors. Some of these factors would be the age and condition of the firearm.
Dodge, I bought an Ithica LSA 55 in 1969 or 1970 brand new in 308 cal. My rifle has performed solidly for 38 years. If i could do it all over again, it would be a 243, only because i live in Georgia and don't hunt anything larger than whitetail. The 243 is good for both small and large game. If i were you i would keep the rifle or give it to a young hunter in your family as such a fine rifle will be hard to replace unless you are willing to fork out many centabos. Good Luck, and I hope you keep your rifle in the family. Good Luck
