I would look at the number of barrels. If there is more than one barrel, you know you have at least a double barrel shotgun. If there are 1 or less barrels, then you don't.
I can say that the A.H.Fox model b double barrel shotgun was made from 1940-1986.I would contact Savage directly to get a more accurate date of manufacture.
If it's not immediatley apparent, you won't.
Need the model number(Model 10,15,40,66,etc.) or, a complete description(barrel length,how many cartridges does it hold,markings on barrel)
It sounds to me that you have a Ithaca Flues model double barrel shotgun.With the serial number that you provided,your shotgun was made by Ithaca in 1917.
The gun was made in 1900, the long hexagon barrel is not unusual for that era.
The Model 335 was made from 1912 to 1931. I know of no serial number breakdown by year. sales@countrygunsmith.net
Need to check the barrel date code. Remington Society of America, Manufacture date link has all the details.
