Less than 100 to over 1000 depending on specifics.
The Colt model of 1917 revolver just like the Smith and Wesson model of 1917 revolver was made from 1917 until January of 1919,for use in World War I. Another answer: 1918 specifically
it sounds like you have a DA revolver with a hand ejector that is the cylinder rolls out to the left. The value is round 400.00. The barrel I assume is 6 inches.
With this Smith & Wesson model 66 nickel plated haven't had a box of shells shot through it excellent condition like new Walnut handles
You will need to find a copy of the Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson for pictures.
No way to answer- your question is sort of like "Price of a Ford car?" It may be $50 or $1000. Will depend on exact model and condition- and that it is truly a Smith & Wesson- not just chambered for Smith & Wesson cartridges. If you can post a full description (caliber, # of shots, finish, barrel length, and ALL markings on the gun) we can see if we can get in the ballpark. You can also contact me directly through my message board. Sorry-
Smith & Wesson has produced many models of the .357 magnum revolver. So I would need much more information. The model number can be found on the frame under the yoke or in layman terms, under the thing that holds the six revolving chambers. Of course the finish on the revolver (very dark blue, nickle or silvery stainless steel) is a factor as well as the condition of the gun (rusty, lots of dings and the like). Ball parking the whole Smith and Wesson revolver market from older average condition gun at about $200 to the stainless J, K and N frames at about $600.
smith and Wesson made hundreds of models, yours sounds like a small handgun from the early 1900's. try to Google a web site for gun collectors. in Canada they sell for $75 max, then $150 to $175 in the us, must be in excellent condition for these prices.
without the pics it sounds like a new departure first model made from 1888-1902
The Smith and Wesson model 13 chambered for .357 Magnum was introduced in 1974. It is a "K" frame, designating that it uses the medium size smith revolver frame. The "J" frame is smaller and the "L, N and X" frames are larger. The 1 following the 13 indicates the first issue of the model 13 dating from it's introduction in 1974. The 13-2 was issued in 1977 with a minor change to the cylinder and the 13-3 was issued in 1982 with another minor change. It looks about like any other revolver from that era: The 13 is no longer available for purchase, but the model 686 is very similar:
The value of a Smith & Wesson .357 cartridge or a Smith & Wesson revolver that fires the .357 ctg (cartridge)? You must first identify the model you have. Sometimes that is best done by looking for and matching what you have. A large group can be seen on places like AuctionArms.com and Gunsamerica.com. The model number is located on most modern S&W's in the yoke where it can be seen with the cylinder open. If all else fails just email me a picture to Merwinman@triad.rr.com. with S&W on the subject line.....Terry
