It looks like an 1877 Colt Lightning. It was usually chambered in .41 caliber, I believe, but others may have been available.
If your colt is the thunderer model (you do not say) then it was made in 1902.

Without seeing the gun, I'm guessing it's a Colt Lightning or Thunderer. Either way, around 1877. I have found info that all colt da 41 cal were called thunderer and any serial # 111500 or prior was made prior to 1898

An 1873 Winchester Carbine, it was shorter and lighter than the rifle, and carried a dozen .44-.40-caliber, center-fired cartridges (the rifle carried 15) and a single-action Colt .45-caliber Peacemaker as well as the double-action Colt .41-caliber Thunderer (the Kid's preferred the latter). His favorite firearm was the 1873 Winchester Carbine.
