Depends on the model

I have one, what is the question?
My Springfield model 83 ( J Stevens) is stamped 22 Short, Long and Long Rifle on Barrel. If yours is as well, then yes, it would fire LR rounds.
In good shape it should bring 300 to 375
It was manufactured by Savage/Stevens sometime between 1920 and 1948. THIS IS A MODEL 15, BOUGHT BY DAD, AND GAVE TO ME. I AM NOW 72
it was made between 1903 and 1907
old
The Springfield Model 49 Challenge, a .22 long rifle, was produced primarily in the 1950s and 1960s. If it was manufactured during that time, it would be approximately 60 to 70 years old as of 2023. The specific age can vary based on the exact year of production, as Springfield made various models during that period.
50-100
Have it examined by a good gunsmith
This would be very difficult as the Springfield Model 15 .22 caliber rifle is already an antique. Try the Burris 3 - 9 x 40 scope and hopefully there will be enough room for the holes to mount.
