Blue is a type of rust finish
Carbon steel guns are usually blued to protect from rust. Stainless guns are left as is.
A couple of hundred years.
With proper care and maintenance, a few hundred years.
A Matt or Matte finish is polished, but not to a mirror like degree. Somewhat like a satin finish on wood, it tends to be non-shiny. Of course, blued means the standard black finish used to help protect the metal from rust (it is a form of controlled rusting that produces black iron oxide)
A few hundred years or so.
the browning BDA is currently valued at between 225-450 dollars for a gun with a blued finish and original finish ranging from 60%-95%.If the gun has a finish of nickel then the price range is 250-495 dollars.
The original finish that was used on the RIA M1903 was parkerized and not blued. The parkerized finish is much more?æappealing.?æ
It is the type of finish used on the barrel and other metal parts, also known as blue steel. It is delicate and must be wiped if touched, or the fingerprints will make it rust.

Absolutely, the parkarized finish helps hold the oil. If you don't apply oil it will eventually rust. I usually spray the finish with CLP (you can buy at Walmart in the gun section). Let it dry overnight and wipe off the excess.
A matte blue finish on guns can provide some resistance to rust due to the protective layer it creates. However, regular maintenance, such as cleaning, oiling, and storing properly, is still necessary to prevent rust from forming on the gun.
Carbon steel is a silvery color. However, it will soon rust. To protect the gun from this, they are usually "blued". Bluing is actually black in color. Some were nickel plated, which is a very shiny silver color, much like a mirror.
