The commonly sold universal sockets are 3/4 to 1 inch socket bodies with 50+ pins inside to aide in gripping small or odd shaped fasteners.
A cars driveshaft, a cars steering column, a socket set,
I think it might be a ball and socket joint of a universal joint.
Use a 'universal joint' socket adapter, a short extension, and a 3/8 ratchet
Changing the spark plugs in a Mercedes w208 320 1999 only requires two tools to be used. The first tool is a 3/8 wratchet that has a short extension and the second tool part is a universal socket. Attach the universal socket to the spark plug socket and use the wratchet to loosen each spark plug. Use the same tools to tighten the new spark plugs into place.
First of all, very carefully. Use a spark plug socket with a universal joint, 9' extenstion. have thin arms. Break loose the plug, then remove by hand or rachet/socket.
It's located between the firewall and the engine below the exhaust shield. Need to use a socket and universal to get to the bolts.
there are 3 mounting bolts on the starter motor.one is at the yop side of starter and you will need a socket with long extension to get at it PS : if you use a universal joint extension from socket set it will be even easier to get at
You may need a universal joint if you are unable to get a socket straight on it due to the belts/fan.
Front 3 are easy , back 3 are difficult, but possible from underneath with a good socket set with universal joints.
You will need a large universal converter since you are placing two or more items into a socket.
You need an O2 sensor socket, then unscrew from pipe/manifold. the socket is fairly universal. Unplug elec connector first then have at it. Having a propane torch and water supply handy may help-many use heat to loosen them up.
I don't know what the manual says, but from experience it takes me 2 - 3 hours, depending on the tools you have. The #4 plug and #3 plug are the hardest, they are the two back ones on the passenger side of engine. Suggest you have 3/8 universal and a long (8 inches) and a short (3 inch) extension, and a universal spark plug socket will help. The holes for the plugs are deep, and very hard to get at. I would not do the job if you do not have the tools i mentioned. HINT, when removing and installing plug, tape the extension to the universal spark plug socket, most times the extension comes off and the spark plug socket remains.
