Most of the time it is 50. Some of the self defence ammo comes in packaging of 25 or 20.
This ammo has been obsolete for many years. You can occasionally find a box at the local gunshows but the reliability of this very old ammo is questionable. Old West Scrounger had a special run of this ammo made by Aquila (Mexico) about 10 years ago and it sold out quickly. This newer ammo shows up at the gunshows too, so that's what I'd be looking for. Another place that sells it is ammobank.com for $35 a box. I bought some of the Aquila ammo for my personal cartridge collection & a potential purchase of a 1903 Winchester that fell through. I have 9 extra boxes for $15 a box if interested since I now have no use for the ammo.
To refill ammo you must either reload or find an ammo box. (im not sure if they have ammo boxex in chaos theory). Other than that you just need to make due with what they give you. Its all part of the game
