The model 949 was produced from 1960-1985 in two versions, one is blued and called the 949, the other is color case hardened frame, and called the 949 western. As to value matbe $ 200-250 in excellent condition with box. Prices are really increasing on all H&R handguns in top condition. As to age of your piece I will need the serial # or at least the two letter prefix of serial # to give you a date of manufacture. Hope this helps
