The model 3079 was a special run done by Marlin for Oklahoma Tire and Supply Stores. The 3079 was a model 30 made in 1979. These guns used a lesser quality birch wood stock, and run in the same values as standard model 30 Marlin lever actions. It is possible for the this model 3079 to not have a birch stock. A limited number of these gun were produced with the full Marlin treatment which included a walnut stock with bulls eye and white line spacers. I have one in my collection that was my dads. He worked for OTASCO and was and was given one for sales of guns in his stores.

i recently bought a model marlin 3079 in pretty good shape and gave 210.00 dollars for it. i bought it for the looks of the rifle, and it shoots good too. it has the forend cap on it. i think i did not get burnt on it. i dont know what is worth, but that is what i gave for it. found it at a pawn shop that carries old rifles. i called marlin and they told me that only 5148 were made of this rifle. they made it for otasco western auto and that mine was made in 1979.
