It's hard to recommend pellets to someone else. There are so many different varieties of pellets that just selecting one is not easy. A few things to look at are "What do you want to do with it." Are you shooting for general fun, target, varmint or match shooting. Pellets com in four different general formats. Round, flat, cone and hollow point. There are several variations of these basic models. Pellets also come in different weights. Lighter pellets are faster but tend to be less accurate. Heaver pellets are slower but have more knockdown power.
I will tell you this, I do not recommend 2 different pellets. Anything that is an off brand made in China and the new Gamo Raptor pellets. Chinese pellets are so off weighted that they never fly straight. The Raptor is so light weight that the lightest breeze blows them off target. Gamo does make a sample pack for around $10 that offers 4 different pellet types and I recommend that you try these first to see what you like. Read the instructions on the pack and it will give you and idea of the pellet types and use.
see this web page to learn what type of pellets are out there (do a search on Pellets when you get to the web page.) (See link below.)

The Crosman 1077 is far superior. For two reasons. It is a true Pellet rifle and has a rifled barrel that makes it more accurate. The Recruit is a BB / Pellet rifle with a smooth boar barrel. The 1077 is modeled after the real Ruger 1022.
The Model 160 rifle shot a .22 Pellet using C02 as a charge.
Go to ( See the link below ) and find your parts and owners manual for your gun or rifle. Crosman keeps a web page for older airguns.

Crosman never made a .22 cal BB rifle. They made several .22 Cal Pellet rifles over the years. Several are still in production.
