Had to thread through three sources to get down to this: WESTPOINT Tradename on arms made by Savage for Cotter & Company. Cotter & Company Model 949 Savage 944. No. 944 1936-42. Cotter and Company was founded by John Cotter in 1948. They have merged with True Value. Started out with 25 stores, don't see how it could be any older than the stores that sold it. (re: answer 1936-42)
The first model 949 (the fourty-niner) was made from 1961-1972.The second model 949 was made from 1973-1986.
H&R model 949 was produced from 1960 to 1985.
The value of a Savage Arms Westpoint 949 single-shot .410 shotgun typically ranges from $100 to $300, depending on its condition, age, and any unique features. Factors such as the presence of original packaging, documentation, and overall wear can also affect its market price. For a precise valuation, it's advisable to consult recent sales data or seek an appraisal from a firearms expert.
