Would not recommend using a full choke or even a 20 gauge, 12s are much better
A 20 gauge modified refers to a type of shotgun gauge and choke. The "20 gauge" indicates the size of the shotgun, which is smaller than a 12 gauge and commonly used for hunting and sport shooting. The term "modified" refers to the choke configuration, which provides a moderate constriction of the shotgun's barrel, allowing for a balance between spread and distance of the shot, making it suitable for various shooting scenarios, such as upland bird hunting.

No risk if it's a modern gun in good condition with a shell of the proper gauge. I wouldn't try in damascus barrels or guns with a "poly choke".
Measure it, or have a gunsmith measure it, with a choke gauge.
The choke on a standard Mossberg 500A 12-gauge shotgun is a constriction at the end of the barrel that controls the spread of the shot as it exits. This allows for greater accuracy and effectiveness at varying distances, with different choke options available such as improved cylinder, modified, and full. The choke can be either fixed or removable, depending on the model and configuration of the shotgun. Proper selection of the choke can enhance performance for specific shooting scenarios, such as hunting or clay shooting.
