Made in 1931, this gun has probably lost a fair percentage of finish. Value depends on condition. If the plate is missing, then it's possible the stock has been cut or altered. original replacements are easy to find, but unlikely that the gun can return to original status. These buttplates are made of horn and they are not all the same size. Fitting is required. Most of these similar to your description, run $250-$450. A near mint gun could bring $1000+ but it would be all complete with no add ons such as pads and poly chokes.
