American Boy: Trade name used on firearms retailed by the Townley Metal and Hardware Company of Kansas City, Missouri, c. 1900-1920.
Western Arms was just a name used by Ithaca in the 1930-1950 era (and maybe earlier by Bacon Arms?). The B with a cross above it sounds like a foreign proof mark, but I don't recognize it. From about 1885 to 1914 several million single shot and double barrel shotguns were imported marked with at least 1000 different names for various wholesalers and retailers. I don't recognize Western Boy as one I have encountered before, but I wonder if it could have been a mate for the American Boy sold by Townley Metal & Hardware Co.
