You may have what's referred to as an Old Model Bearcat in the "Alphabet series". They have collector value. You need to call Ruger at 603-865-2424. Ruger will give you the shipping date and model configuration of your Bearcat, at no charge. Provide the complete serial number and any other special markings or features of the firearm when you call. Bearcat sn's began at 1 and went to 999. First shipped 8/58. Yours is one of the "alphabet" series. The sn for these had a three digit number preceded by a letter of the alphabet. All letters except O were used. The first "alphabets" were shipped in 8/58 (yes at the same time as the 1-999 ones) and continued until early 1960. Somewhere between 140,000 to 160,000 were made during it's lifetime run of 8/58 - 7/70. OR You could have a Duplicate serial numbered gun.
