It depends if the smoke is blueish it is burning oil .I it is black it is usually over fueled.
wouldn't it run on gas or am i wrong
do you KNOW how wrong that sounds?
the smoking is most likely caused by the engine burning oil.
A lawn mower may smoke while in use due to several reasons, including an overfilled oil reservoir, which can cause excess oil to be burned, or a clogged air filter that restricts airflow and leads to incomplete combustion. Additionally, using the wrong type of fuel or running the mower at too low of an RPM can also result in smoking. It's important to check these factors and perform regular maintenance to prevent smoking and ensure optimal performance.
Mine doesn't smoke after adding oil, it runs great. Does yours? Maybe you put too much oil in it or the wrong thickner?
