Savage began offering synthetic stocks on the Model 24 in 1992. This change was part of an effort to modernize the firearm and make it more appealing to a wider range of shooters. The synthetic stock provided increased durability and weather resistance compared to traditional wood stocks.
Most likely not since the production of the Winchester model 12 was discontinued in 1963 and synthetic stocks were not on guns for the public until around 1965
