The winchester 25-35 Cartridge CAN be safely fired in a 25-36 Marlin caliber firearm. They are similar cartridges, the Marlin is a bit longer. For that reason the Marlin ammo cannot be fired in the Winchester.
When it was introduced, it was called .30 WCF (Thirty caliber Winchester Center Fire). At some point became 30-30. Value depends on condition. Around $ 300 would be somewhere in the ballpark. Marlin originally used 30-30 so they wouldn't have to put a Winchester "brand" on their rifles when manufactured in the caliber.
The Marlin Model 336 was first introduced in 1948. No starting date exists on records for the offering of the .30-30 Winchester.
Its probably a marlin model 80,some were also made by winchester.
Your rifle is a Marlin (Winchester 30-30 is caliber). Value will be based on condition, but somewhere between $225-$350 for Good to Excellent. Great little deer rifle.

There is a Marlin 336A with scope currently for sale on Gunbroker.com (September 07, 2008.) It is advertised as never fired, new in the box in 30/30 Winchester caliber. It has a "buy it now" price of $349.00
It used to indicate 30 caliber, 30 grains of smokeless powder. Not sure if that is still true. It started out as 30WCF meaning 30 caliber Winchester Center Fire. Marlin used 30-30 to make their models.
