The OF Mossberg model 142A, a .22 LR rifle, was manufactured in the early 1950s. Production began around 1951 and continued through the mid-1950s. This model is known for its bolt-action design and was popular for small game hunting and target shooting.
Made from 1949-1957. The 142A is a bolt action, and is less common that the semi-auto version, the Model 152A. There is collector interest in the Mossberg 142A, and values are going up. Original peep sight is hard to find. Nice little rifle.

Hello Mossberg made many .22lr during early years. The 142a was a very interesting bolt action with a front grip and a 7 rounds magazine. It was made from 1950 to 1957. after that they did some semi-autos (152a) and some lever actions (palomino) Also Mossberg made many .22lr bolt action to the military for training during WWII. Value is not much, depends of the conditions from $50 to $180 but they are very good shooters and great for kids because the short barrel. Something that always worries people about this rifle it is the fact that they do not have serial number stamped, During the 50's it was not required by ATF to serialize rifles and Mossberg didn't do it to keep the price down. ___________________________________________________________ I have no Idea, but I have one of thoes and a matching 4-10, and I am curious if their age and worth
