This model of Savage was made from 1967-1989.If your Savage has the under lever opening in front of the trigger Guard,then it was made from 1980-1989.If not then from 1967-1979.

I bought one new in the early 80's, Pretty sure it was 1984. it has the selector on the hammer spur. It is a D model with the series P designation. Checkered Monte Carlo stock, etc...
